Julie, a lonely 14 year old, and her family move in with her uncle on the Oregon seaside after her dad loses his job. Her parents are on the verge of splitting up. Grandpa Jack and Standing Elk become Julie’s elder counselors. After a mystical encounter with a huge Elk on the beach, Julie finds an old Spanish doubloon. She learns of a legend that tells of Spanish sailors burying a chest of gold on Neahkahnie Mountain in the late 1500’s. An Elk and the spirit of a slave murdered by the Spanish become her guides as she searches for the gold, hoping to ease her family’s problems. As Julie learns more of the lore of Manzanita’s Native American tribes, she begins experiencing some of the magic of their people, and sees the friendly elk as a spirit link to the fabled events of four centuries before. The Tillamook Treasure took the prize as the Best Family Feature at the 2006 Newport Beach Film Festival.
