Space Brothers and Others
Thursday, 8:15 pm, McCormack Observatory

Craig Baldwin has compiled a collection of short films and clips much like the surprising collage programs he puts together for his “Other Cinema” in San Francisco, and that extends the collage aesthetic of his films, including Tribulation 99: Alien Anomalies Under America (on tonight’s program) and Mock Up on Mu (premiering at the Festival on Sunday). Baldwin writes: “Not only a way of peering into outer space, the McCormick Observatory has also been selected to serve us earthlings as a portal for extraterrestrial visitation. In this speculative survey of comparative cosmologies, we at last begin to grok the infinite possibilities of a radically relativistic universe, at turns pop-cult and paranoid, expanding at the speed of human cinematic imagination.”

The program includes the following films:

Ford Motor Company: A Wonderful New World of Fords (1960)
Bjørn Melhus: No Sunshine (1997)
Unarius: The Arrival (1980)
Rodney Ascher: A Cold-Blooded Look at Your Last 60 Trillion Years (2002)
Bill Brown: Roswell (1994)
Craig Baldwin: Tribulation 99: Alien Anomalies Under America (1992)
