Opening Night Gala
Thursday, November 5th Doors open at 9:00 PM
Join us in the Sandridge Hall of the John Paul Jones Arena to celebrate the Opening Night of the 22nd Virginia Film Festival. Bring your friends to mingle and mix with Festival guests, while enjoying an exclusive evening of post-opening night drinks. Music will be provided by the John D’earth Quartet.

The Virginia Film Festival is delighted to celebrate John Waters’ visit with a special dance party at the newly opened Southern (formerly Gravity Lounge).
DJ group Luke and Zach Go Boating will set the scene with dance music “ranging from New York disco classics to Cologne Techno.”
The evening will include a special performance by CLAW and an appearance by the Charlottesville Derby Dames.
Tickets $10 / $5 (UVa students – over 21 only)

Closing Night Wrap Party at X-Lounge
Saturday, November 7th 10:00 PM – 2:00AM
This year, X marks the spot as the Festival kicks back to celebrate another year well-spent with its wrap party. Join us at the X-Lounge, chill out with a free light bar and snacks, as well as specially priced ‘signature’ cocktails, while discussing your favorite moments of Funny Business with your friends, Festival guests, and filmmakers. Music by DJ XSV.

Filmmakers & Sponsor Lounge at Escafé
New for 2009 is the Festival Filmmakers & Sponsor Lounge, sponsored by the Virginia Film Office. This opportunity to spend time with filmmakers and guests over catered breakfast, lunch, and dinner and a light bar is available to Film Festival corporate and private supporters. Escafé is situated at the end of Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall, providing food and drink in an exclusive space for the Festival’s guests and sponsors.
The Filmmakers and Sponsor lounge is sponsored by the Virginia Film Office and Escafé.
Established in 1995 at its current location, Escafé is proud to support the Filmmakers Lounge. With its front doors opening onto a semi-private patio on the Downtown Mall and its eclectic style of food, drink and atmosphere, Escafé welcomes the Festival’s guests and sponsors.
